Logitech delivers wireless perfection.
When I built my first gaming PC some 13 years ago, people told me to avoid wireless gaming accessories. “Wired is always better.” I was told. “Better performance, more responsive, and batteries are a pain in the butt”.
This proved to be true for a number of years, as I often gambled on wireless keyboards and mice, only to be disappointed time and time again. They were serviceable, sure, but there was just something missing to make me love wireless gear.
Until now.
I’ve got my hands on the Logitech G604 Lightspeed Wireless Optical Gaming Mouse, a new, highly-affordable wireless mouse that is an absolute joy to use. It has restored my faith in wireless tech. Here’s why.
1. It has a healthy amount of gaming buttons
Not too many, not too little, the G604 has 6 side buttons, as well as your standard left and right click. It’s enough to stock your favourite hotkeys, without compromising on comfort, or bulking your mouse up like your MMORPG-focused alternatives. Your mouse speed buttons can also be redefined should you want even more control.
2. It’s ultra-responsive
Featuring HERO 16K, Logitech’s most advanced sensor to date, the G604 is buttery smooth. We’re talking flawless performance, with no smoothing, filtering or acceleration. It’s pure performance, and it’s almost too good to be true.
3. It has a ridiculously long battery life
I have forgotten to turn off the G604 on multiple occasions. Despite this, I am still on my first battery with is. I would have burned through multiple batteries doing this with other mice, but the G604 has a good relationship with batteries. The official website for the Logitech G604 Lightspeed states it gets up to 240 hours on a single AA battery, and I’d believe it.
4. It is the most comfortable mouse I have ever used
I always thought I had to compromise my comfort with PC gaming. No mice has ever felt quite right with me, to the point where I was questioning if there was something wrong with my hands, and not the peripherals I was using. The G604 is a decent size, with an ergonomic design that allows me to game in comfort, meaning I game better.
5. You can toggle the mousewheel between ratcheted and hyper-fast modes
This is one for the pros. If you need to absolutely fly through your in-game menus at light-speed, you can. It features a button that switches the mouse wheel between an ultra-smooth hyper-fast mode, or your more standard ratcheted scrolling. If you know your game menus like the back of your hand, you’ll be quicker than ever using hyper-fast mode.
Conclusion
After 13 years of PC gaming, I finally have a mouse that I am completely and enthusiastically happy with. Again, it’s comfortable, responsive, and it has the perfect amount of buttons for me. My entire gaming setup was Corsair, and being addicted to fancy lighting it was also entirely RGB. Now, the Lightspeed has changed all that.
If you’re curious about picking up a new mouse, I highly recommend the Logitech G604 Lightspeed. The only people I can’t recommend it to are MMORPG players who absolutely need 118 buttons on their mice. Everyone else should check out the Lightspeed.
