Get involved
Playtopia is a home for the AU gaming community —
help us build it
We've got the tools: a CMS for writing, tournament and ladder infrastructure, team pages, a Steam-library Linux checker, and more. What actually makes a community is people showing up and making things happen. That's where you come in.
Ways to get involved
Pick whichever fits — most people start with one and end up doing more than one.
Write & review
Reviews, opinion pieces, previews, interviews — if you've got something to say about a game, we've got a byline for it.
Dig into gaming history
Deep dives on the consoles, studios, and weird dead ends that shaped gaming. Picture-heavy, fact-dense, fun to read.
Build a wiki
Reference pages for games, mechanics, or the site itself. There's no self-serve editor for this yet, so get in touch and we'll sort it out together.
Run or help run a tournament
We've got the tournament and ladder tooling built. What we need is organisers and players to actually run something on it.
Community & moderation
Help keep the community welcoming — moderate discussions, welcome newcomers, or just be a steady, active presence.
Just be part of the community
Chat in the Discord, compete in tournaments, work through the guides, and tell us what's missing. Showing up counts.
Writing or curating something? Here's how it works
Tournament organising and moderation don't go through this — email us and we'll sort out the details directly.
Pitch or just start writing
Got an idea? Send it through, or jump straight into the CMS and draft it yourself.
A quick review
An editor reads it, leaves feedback if anything needs work, and sends it back if it does.
Published, with your name on it
It goes live on Playtopia with your byline, and stays on your profile as your work.
What's in it for you
A byline that stays on your profile, a real audience instead of a personal blog nobody finds, early access to whatever we build next, and a hand in shaping what an Australian gaming community site actually looks like — because right now, that's still being decided.
