Mount System
8 rideable mounts — each with unique roles, feed requirements, and saddle accessories
Not all tameable animals are mounts. Only animals with a craftable Saddle can be ridden. Of the 17 tameable species,8 have confirmed saddle blueprints and can serve as mounts.
Mounts are tamed via passive taming — place the correct feed in your last inventory slot, crouch, and slowly approach. Once tamed and saddled, mount stats improve as the animal grows. Feed your mount regularly to maintain its satiation and trigger growth cycles. Some mounts support interchangeable saddle attachments (GuaJian) that change their function entirely.

Alpaca
A compact, sure-footed pack animal well-suited to mountainous terrain. The Alpaca is the most accessible mount in the early game — easy to tame and requiring only basic feed.

Basic alpaca fodder — a simple mixed grain and hay blend.

Refined, nutrient-rich feed for faster growth and higher satiation.

Long-leaf weeds normally used for thatched buildings. The game explicitly notes these can feed alpacas — but at only +1 satiation per piece this is emergency rations at best. You would need 100 pieces to equal one basic feed.
Passive tame — place feed in the last inventory slot and approach while crouched. Alpacas become hostile briefly when disturbed, so approach from downwind.
Highland grasslands and foothills. Common in mid-altitude biomes.
- →Best early mount — available before mid-game and cheap to maintain
- →Good for scouting terrain on foot with a light load
- →Upgrade to Llama when you need cargo or prisoner transport

All regular feeds share two tiers: Basic (+100 satiation, +15% growth) and Premium (+300 satiation, +30% growth). Carnivore mounts (Jaguar, Snow Leopard) share generic Meat Chunks — herbivore mounts each have species-specific feed. Thatch is an emergency-only option for Alpacas providing just +1 satiation per piece with no growth benefit.
